The WINNER of the book, Platform, Get Noticed in a Noisy World, is Mary Potter Kenyon. Congrats, Mary. Thanks to all who participated.

PLATFORM:
Do you have one?

Are you working to build one?

A buzzword around the publishing world is platform. This has become a must for authors and future authors. One of the best resources I have found is the book by the same title:

Platform, Get Noticed in a Noisy World

by Michael Hyatt

Hyatt will be the keynoter in September at the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) Conference in Dallas.

I am giving away a copy of the book beginning today through next Friday, July 6 at midnight.

Please leave a comment to be entered in the drawing.

  1. I was surprised at the amount of publicity I had to do as an author after publishing my first book; not complaining though . . . it was almost as much fun as the writing.

  4. Tammie, I was hoping to pick up this book at Write to Publish, but it was gone before I had the chance. Thanks for highlighting it again. I need to get on the bandwagon (or perhaps, the "stage?") and start working on the whole platform issue. Especially after I had several editors tell me they like my work but want to see a platform first. --Mark

I agree with your previous blog post about platform - scary and overwhelming! Trying to learn the basics step by step...

  10. I echo everyone elses comments. I can't get to ACFW this year but I will be getting the CD's to hear what Michael Hyatt has to say. He knows Platform better than anyone.

  11. UGH! Platform. A dirty word. 8-) If not a dirty word one that gives me a huge headache. Please enter me in the drawing. I won't hear Michael Hyatt's or anyone else's wisdom at the conference since I'm not going, but the book sounds like a great resource. Thanks for the contest.

  16. I heard several times a day at the recent Write-to-Publish Conference that platform is important. It is crucial that nonfiction writers have a large platform, and it is also helpful for fiction writers. Tammie, I'd love to win the book. Thank you for this opportunity for all of us.

  18. I too would love to read this book. As a writer and someone with an MBA in Marketing, I struggle constantly with the concept of building my platform, primarily because I have gotten no help from publishers who were supposed to be reputable.
